Sedo Purchases GreatDomains.com Website for Over $2 million

Tim Schumacher of Sedo announced yesterday the purchase of the GreatDomains.com website from VeriSign. GreatDomains is one of Sedo’s largest after market domain sales competitors. DomainTools says the company was purchased by VeriSign in 2000 for $50,000,000 during the dot com bubble and that they have now sold it for an estimated $2,200,000.

Sedo plans to use GreatDomains as a premium domain marketplace, strictly high value names. They will be introducing new features such as live monthly auctions to compete with Moniker.

Login to your Sedo account and select “Domain Management” Check the box next to your premium value domain names you would like to submit, then use the new drop down box option on the bottom of the page entitled “Apply for Premium Auction.”
