One of the problems is that, if you can imagine promoting the domain somewhere, it'll look like a typo, like you forgot to add the “m” at the end.

Really what is happeneing is that only domain investors and big business are buying these names. The reason why big business are buying them is to keep them away from the domain investors. I really believe this is not going to work. I have talked to a ton of people and they are saying “what is .co?” This is a way that whoever came up with this is going to be laughing to the bank. I hope it does work but right now domain investors are the only ones who are buying these right now during the first few days. I am going to say stay away from this.

I like how the Pareto rule sounds like, but I can’t implement it in my life:( I can’t receive 80% of the profit from 20% of the time. What concerns procrastibation, it is the best way out from the situation which you are not able to influence on.

I spent a few hours yesterday searching for some good domains, and I found about 20 that, if they were dotcoms, would be worth anywhere from $5k to $500k each, easily, but they aren't.

Like any category killer in any tld, they'll be worth $500 to $1000 at most. One of the problems is that, if you can imagine promoting the domain somewhere, it'll look like a typo, like you forgot to add the "m" at the end. No matter what you do, the dotcom will get a bunch of your traffic.

Of course, the flipside will happen too since the new dotco extension is a natural typo domain, no available when people leave off the "m" when they surf, and unless it is generic, you own the dotcom or you have developed something completely different than the dotcom (in which case the typo traffic is meaningless, if that is what you are after), you're up for having to defend the dotco in potential suits.

My two cents - when a domain has this many issues to contend with, it needs to be valued accordingly, which means LOW. Not to say you can't make something out of a dotco, but it still LOOKS like a typo.

I am not absolutely sure, because I did not get involved personally with .US domain names (further evidence), but this is something I have heard from multiple sources. Too many individuals bought up all the good .US domains and they have not been used.

Only thing i want to know is how will Google weigh .co
I would never try to brand a .co unless i also owned the .com
and in that case why would i need to brand the .co
If google likes .co like a .net it just means plenty of two and three word domains
can be developed and make good revenue

I think some of the .co's will get some .com typo traffic.

I think when people see a .co domain advertised, they might type in .com thinking that's what it meant.

The .co is a nice extension for business and companies, easily recognizable in many languages.

I'm looking forward to the stories in coming weeks about what kind of traffic and development has gone on for these new .co's. It seems to have promise but not a sure thing yet.

I think that the .co founders did a great job promoting it, especially what they did with Twitter, so I think its a great investment to buy as many good domains as you can get your hands on, today.

I think like any new extension a lot of it is just hype. Who besides domain investors will show interest? I don't think the general public even knows about this extension? On the other hand I do agree in the value it may have to corporations. Like everything else Time will be the best judge.

This big sale of 350,000 stands to reason. o.com is unavailable and what better marketing is there to have people think of “o” and think of your company, in this case Overstock. Of course its too early to tell whether .co will have a solid “long-term”, it is already clear it is a worthy extension and can work in many different ways. It is indeed a very flexible extension. The numbers of pre-orders are already staggering. The next week or two should be interesting.
