I would rate it a B- compared to its old hosting at Sitepoints Marketplace. What made the Marketplace so great was that you could find anything and everything without having to kill yourself trying to find. It was easier to choose from categories such as premium domains and classifieds. I preferred the older style listing where more listings were visible without having to scroll down the page. It seems as if they sold out the greatness of the Marketplace to make a few extra bucks.

I think it sucks. They have increased the pricing, are charging a 5% success fee for selling a site, giving customers less features for more money, and the Co-Founder is calling his paying customers whiners and complainers in the Sitepoint forum to boot. Just blogged about it all at DomainingDiva.com with all the links to the uproar over Flippa.

The old categories are still there, just click the button for the drop-down menu: http://www.flippa.com/buy-websites .

Want we want to encourage buyers to do setup custom categories/filters. What’s “Premium” to one buyer, may be un-interesting to to someone else.

With the new system, buyers can define exactly what sort of sites they are looking for, and then setup automatic email notifications that get sent out when new listings appear that match the buying criteria…

I also got the email and liked the domain name, derived from ‘flipper’ for domain/site flipping ;-) Sitepoint is probably already a market leader in site buying / selling but they have just improved the whole process.

I tried to use the one GoDaddy owns and promotes and had no luck at all. Looking forward to the new site and all the features.
