Today its very hard to find a good .com name. Perhaps if they actually raised the price by a few 100% it would stop all of the made for adsense websites

Yes, Increase in price has already taken place and users buying them as usual. That indicates small hikes in prices really does n't affect real internet usage.

2007 increase was 6 x 1.07 = $6.42
2008 increase 6.42 * 1.07 = $6.86
2009 $7.34
2010 $7.85
2011 $8.39
2012 $8.97
2013 $9.59
+ ICANN fee $0.20 recently, probably will increase so 2013 .com registry price $9.99 and registrar price add a buck or more

Anyhow i dont mind paying up 42 cents yet for the people that own 100+ domains, thats a lot more to pay up lol

This is not realy a suprise, also there are to many domains in the hand of single domainers. If the price was higher like $ 50 each then you wouldnt have certain domainers holding 200 – 300K domains. they would just simply not be able to afford it. The web would then be much more relavent and not just a huge parked and ppc caos.

Also remember that a lot of sites offer cheaper domain name registration but in fact they will hold the ownership of the domain until you pay them a (usually) exorbitant amount.

I just got into blogging recently and I was surprised at how cheap the domain registration and hosting were. There are also coupons all over the web that made it even cheaper for me. So this price increase is not really a big deal.

Ugh, inflation is taking over everything lol. But I’ve never got a domain for as cheap as $6 :(
