iPhone.com Price Tag Exceeds $1 Million
CNBC reports on the sale of iPhone.com domain name in the last few seconds of a video report on component stocks and who is cashing in on Apple’s iPhone. The domain iPhone.com was registered in 1995 by Michael Kovatch.
Kovatch sincerely wanted to develop a business using this name, so he held out to the last minute before the official launch of the iPhone before giving in. Within these last few weeks traffic has skyrocketed on the iPhone.com domain and it seems Apple just had to have it. See also Jay’s blog post on iPhone domains.
Apple wrote a check for a confirmed 7 figure number to Michael Kovatch making him an instant millionaire.
