Wedding.Net Sells for $75,000

The dot net domain extension is of course a huge underdog when it comes to aftermarket sales for generic domains. Only a handful of premium names have fetched notable sales prices. A few days ago Domain Name Wire wrote that Wedding.net had received a bid of $75,000 on the Afternic domain auction website.

This bid surpassed the sellers reserve and initiated the start of an auction. The seller’s buy-it-now option was set to $150,000. The initial bid stood it’s ground and Wedding.net has been sold for $75,000.

According to DNJournal sales reports the same domain changed hands for only $8000 in May 2004. That is at least a $67,000 profit in holding onto the domain for 3 years.

Other notable .net domain sales include:

  • Sex.net – $454,500
  • RealEstate.net – $300,000
  • News.net – $150,000
  • CreditCards.net – $118,500
  • Net.net – $100,000
  • Wedding.net – $75,000
  • Career.net – $52,500
  • Model.net – $50,000
