Free Email Marketing Guide from MailChimp

Posted on June 6, 2007 in: Advertising, Marketing, Tools & Resources

MailChimp, an emerging web service for sending and tracking your email marketing to customers, has released a great 50 page guide to email marketing. See PDF download link below.

I don’t do many web application reviews, so I would like to clarify that this is not a paid review nor am I receiving any compensation for referrals to this service. It is simply a cool, innovative and award winning tool! Something that really caught my eye was their on-the-fly “Inbox Inspector” tool which gives you a live preview of how your email campaign will look in 16 varying reader programs such as Gmail, Hotmail or Outlook.

Inbox Inspector

In addition to content within the free guide, the MailChimp resource center provides in-depth information and helpful hints for saving your email campaigns from being lost in the vicious spam-filter black holes. Because of the intense algorithms used to filter emails these days, many newsletters and emails get diverted to spam folders even if they were requested by the readers. This information is invaluable for predicting if your email will fly and in turn saving a large chunk of your deliveries as well as increasing monetization.

Designing, Coding & Delivering HTML Email
Included in the guide are the following tips and tricks:

  • Designing HTML emails that work in all the major email programs
  • CSS and coding tips and tricks
  • Common email marketing mistakes to avoid
  • How to avoid spam filters and prevent abuse reports
  • Spam laws, blacklists, and best practices
  • Managing permission email lists
  • Email marketing etiquette for beginners
