This is a really interesting topic because this could possibly be misleading to anyone who is wants to work with businesses with the TLD being .LA. It would seem to me that it would be good to see what the city of LA has to say about this. If indeed cities would be given the right to sell their TLD it would be nice to see them benefit from this as our cities could make a little money from businesses no? I would not mind paying my city for a domain it if would help my business. Please post to the Wiki where some information is being gathered about this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.la#External_links

Agree with you Alex.
.la is the TLD for the country Laos.
These guys are making everybody believe
that .la stands for Los Angeles.
this weakens the usefulness of country code TLDs.It becomes hard to judge the country of origin of a website by just looking at the TLD.
that's unfortunate for people of Laos to have a country TLD
that suits a big american city like Los Angeles. They'll soon find it really hard to have their business online with their country TLD.
tough luck.

Um, LA is for Laos, not Los Angeles. Why would there be a TLD for a U.S. city?
